Since the beginning of the new year, seven pedestrian deaths have occurred on San Jose’s roads. The latest victim was a woman who died on Thursday, February 23.
The Mercury News reports that the accident happened late in the morning near the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Road when a vehicle hit the pedestrian. Dispatchers sent officers to the scene at 11:15 a.m., where they found the woman dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office was working to identify the victim. The motorist involved in the accident remained on the scene to cooperate with the San Jose police investigation.
A Number of February Accidents
Every San Jose traffic fatality has involved a pedestrian so far in 2017. Four of the fatal pedestrian accidents happened in February. The newspaper also reported that, just two days earlier, a male pedestrian died in a morning accident at Tully Road and Galveston Avenue. Another pedestrian died following an incident in South San Jose on February 1. The 35-year-old man died of his injuries four days later. On February 3, a 67-year-old man died at the scene on Fourth Street near the I-880 overpass.
Although the circumstances of every traffic accident vary, it is possible for a wrongful death attorney to assist survivors when it is reasonable to claim that negligent conduct contributed to loss of life.
