I went to the hospital on June 24 complaining about stomach pain. The doctor only saw me for less than 10 minutes and was very rude. He didn’t give me any blood work or anything when I complained about serious stomach pain. He said he couldn’t do anything for me and that I would have to go to my regular doctor, which I don’t have. He just rushed me out and prescribed pain killers and pills to stop vomiting. He didn’t give me any antibiotics. I went home and felt sicker. When I couldn’t handle the pain anymore, I went to the emergency room in the morning of June 25 to find out that my appendix had ruptured. My temperature was over 105 and they gave me antibiotics before the surgery. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days and has been off of work for a month. Do I have a case against the first doctor? I feel that if he took more time to find out what was wrong with me then I wouldn’t have been sick for so long.

It seems like there is a possibility that the first doctor you consulted may have been neglectful of his duties. However, medical malpractice cases need to be studied thoroughly in order to find out for sure if there is a valid case. Consult with a lawyer who is an expert in personal injury cases, specifically medical malpractice, and show evidences such as medical records, prescriptions, etc. so that your attorney could take a closer look at your case and give you advice on what steps to take, and to represent you as well should you decide to pursue your case against the doctor.
