After settling a lawsuit, your lawyer will report to the court that your case was settled. Then, the court will issue an order of settlement which will require both parties complete the requirements within the days given by the court. After this, the defense lawyer will send a document that sets forth the settlement. Your lawyer will then check it and determine if it is acceptable for your settlement. Once your lawyer finished reviewing the document, he will send the document to you for it to be signed. Make sure that you’ve read the document thoroughly because once it is signed, it cannot be undone. After signing, your case has been settled, and you can now collect your personal injury settlement.
