The simple answer is no. If the offending party offers to settle your claim outside of the court, then you will not have to go to court. However, it’s best to consult with a lawyer after receiving a settlement offer so that they can advise you if you’re receiving enough compensation.

After settling an injury case, your lawyer will simply wait for the settlement check to come in the mail. If you won at trial, you should be prepared for a one to two-year appeal process to play out before you will see a check for the judgment.
